Xcel Energy is replacing approximately eight miles of natural gas infrastructure in Ramsey County, known as the Northeast Metro Natural Gas Project. This replacement project will span from Century Avenue N., south of Larpenteur Avenue, in Maplewood to County Road B and Rice Street, in Roseville. The natural gas line begins and ends at existing natural gas facilities at these locations.

For this project, we will have two temporary material storage areas. The temporary material storage areas will be located on the west side of White Bear Ave, just south of Burke Avenue, and on the west side of Century Avenue N., just south of Holloway Avenue. Temporary work trailers, equipment and materials will also be stationed at the sites from April through October. The sites will be restored to previous conditions when the contractor completes activities at the sites. This infrastructure replacement project will be constructed as part of Xcel Energy’s commitment to system revitalization in the project area. The project will allow Xcel Energy to continue to provide the safe, reliable natural gas service our customers expect.

The project team determined the route for the natural gas line based on the location of the existing natural gas line. During construction, the project team will remove the existing natural gas line and install the new line in the same locations, rights-of-way and easements.

The project team will continue to work with applicable municipalities and agencies throughout the project. Currently, the project is being constructed. Find out more about the anticipated Northeast Metro Natural Gas Project schedule.
