Aug. 23, 2019

Construction in Zone 1 continues. This Zone 1 construction updates page will include construction activities that occur between Century Avenue N., south of Larpenteur Avenue, and South Avenue E. and Henry Street N. We anticipate completing construction in this area in September 2019.

During the week of Aug. 26, 2019, crews will work in the following area:

  • Century Avenue North, between Larpenteur Avenue and 34th Street North/County Road 14. During construction in this area, northbound traffic will be allowed. Southbound traffic will be allowed for local traffic only. Southbound through traffic should follow the posted detour. All sites will remain accessible.
  • Century Avenue North, between the railroad tracks north of 27th Street and Larpenteur Avenue. During construction in this area, no through traffic will be allowed. All sites will remain accessible from the south, but they will not be accessible from Larpenteur Avenue. Through traffic should follow the detour: Maryland Avenue East to Lakewood Drive/McKnight Road North to Holloway Avenue to Century Avenue North.

Once construction has been completed, we will restore the previous work sites to the conditions required by permits.

During construction, you can expect to see construction contractors in your area regularly. Prior to natural gas line work, you may also see contractors marking existing utilities and visually exposing them by potholing roadways and sidewalks to verify utility line locations.

We will have traffic control set up during construction activities. Area commuters, pedestrians and cyclists should expect traffic flaggers, construction traffic and potential delays when navigating through or around the construction work areas. For your safety and the safety of the crews, please follow all posted detour signs and directions from construction personnel.

If you experience issues related to our construction, we want to hear from you. Please contact us directly at 833-676-4369 or via email at info@XcelEnergyNEMetroGasProject.com. We apologize in advance for any inconvenience that construction may cause, and we thank you for your patience during the construction process.

Please note that construction schedules are subject to change.
